With reference to my telegram of the 23rd. July and Your Lordship's reply of the 6th August, I have the 45549 honour to inform you that I considered it desirable to extend

the Proclamation for a further three months but I think and

the General Officer Commanding concurs, that it may be un-

-necessary to do so again.

When the period of the present Proclamation expires the question will be reconsidered, and in the meantime I ask Your Lordship's permission again to extend the period for

a further three months from the 3rd August if it is found

desirable.
